Based off characters in a closed RPG, Stone Soup. The scene in question is more than fifty years down the road from current timelines, and the product of two bored muns idly poking at plotbunnies and mental images. One of the characters technically isn't wholly original, but the development and growth and overall changes brought about onto the character have him so far removed from canon. Besides, his identity alone and presence in the picture would turn the whole thing into a seriously heavy spoiler for something. If you have access to the Stone Soup fiction comm on GJ, a ficlet by ~unoriginalchaos is up there. It'll eventually make it up into the Vignette 'fic archive on Stone Soup itself, but as of this time, we haven't gotten around to doing that.

But it's early October in the year 2115, in a private cemetery in New England. Two immortal siblings have buried their two non-immortal siblings.

Sometimes, the hardest part of loving is in the letting go.
